Mining company Newcrest Cadia Valley has released the results of a study highlighting its socio-economic performance after engaging Umwelt Research to assess the social and financial contributions of the operation in the local community.
The report shows that the operation:
– spends $306M of its total expenditure in the local economy
– supports 3230 direct and indirect jobs
– has 85% of its workforce residing in Orange, Blayney or Cabonne LGAs
– contributes $2.9M to community and education, donations through scholarships, tree planting programs along with funding and support for local business and service clubs
